The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25179 is now available.

Introducing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25179.

Microsoft has published a  build of Windows 11 in the Dev Channel. The update, according to the official changelog, only includes general fixes and enhancements. However, after installing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25179, some Windows Insiders immediately observed something odd occurring on the taskbar. Now that the spelling dictionary is using a language-neutral word list, we are experimenting with syncing it across all devices that are connected to the same Windows account. By going to Settings > Accounts > Windows backup > Remember my preferences > Language preferences, users can turn this feature on or off. Currently, only Microsoft accounts are compatible with this; AAD support will be added later.

The file browser

All users in the Dev Channel now have access to the updated File Explorer tabs and navigation (which started rolling out to the Dev Channel with Build 25136). Please try rebooting if you don’t see these features right away. Please submit your feedback at Feedback Hub if it doesn’t work.

In File Explorer, we’re experimenting with several ways to display search results.

Input

For the Tamil language, we are implementing the Tamil Anjal keyboard. Try it out if you speak Tamil; it’s a popular keyboard for typing Tamil characters. While we assess the quality, this keyboard is now trickling out to a portion of Insiders. Make sure Tamil (India) is listed under Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region before clicking the “…” next to the language, choosing Language Options, and adding it to the list of keyboards to add it (once it’s available to you).

We are releasing a minor adjustment to make the conventional touch keyboard layout and the default touch keyboard layout feel more responsive by increasing the key repetition rate. 20 keys are now being pressed every second (for example, when holding down the delete key).

Other

Updated the powercfg -sleepstudy default time frame from 3 to 7 days.

Concerning the Dev Channel

As Microsoft Team test out various concepts and gather feedback, the Dev Channel receives builds that represent long-lead effort from our engineers with features and experiences that might never be deployed. It’s crucial to keep in mind that the builds They releases to the Dev Channel shouldn’t be viewed as being compatible with any particular version of Windows, and the features included in them could change over time, be eliminated or replaced in Insider builds, or they might never be made available to anyone other than Windows Insiders. Please read this blog article for more details on how we want to use the Dev Channel to test out new concepts, work on long-term projects, and manage the statuses of specific features.

These aren’t always stable builds, and occasionally you’ll run across problems that prevent essential functions or call for workarounds. As MS Team tracks many of these issues with every flight, it is crucial that you read the known issues noted in our blog entries.

The Windows 11 preview builds in the Beta and Release Preview Channels have lower build numbers than the builds in the Dev Channel. Without performing a clean install back to the current release of Windows 11, you won’t be able to switch from the Dev Channel to the Beta or Release Preview Channels.

Additionally, there may be instances where new features and experiences appear first in the Beta Channel because the Dev and Beta Channels reflect parallel development pathways from our engineers.

It’s typical for these pre-release builds to have a desktop watermark in the lower right corner.
